Description

Awaiting the Dawn is a black-on-black abstract acrylic painting built around the contrast between matte and glossy finishes. At first glance, the work may appear almost entirely dark, but as light moves across the surface, hidden imagery begins to emerge from within the layers.

The central visual cue is a young dragon appearing from the darkness, wings extended downward and gaze lifted upward. The piece depends on shifting light and viewing angle: the matte areas absorb illumination while the glossy passages catch and reflect it, revealing details that seem to surface, disappear, and return.
